Gray Place Woodworking is the name of my business
and my name is Dave Przybylski, I design and build wood furniture for
your home or office. I have been designing and working with wood since
1968.
I was fortunate enough to serve an apprenticeship with actual on the job
training in several local shops in my area were I grew up. Two of these
shops were owned by men who where master cabinet makers who had
immigrated to America. One was from Austria and the other from Germany.
It was from these two men that had taught me craftsmanship.
After moving from shop to shop learning all I could, I had decided in
1978 to start my own business. As cabinet shops go, mine was not
typical. I covered all aspects of woodworking from boat restoration to
gun-stock making, kitchen and bath cabinetry. I covered all types of
casework, bookcases and entertainment centers and one off furniture I
had designed. I did all types of commercial work that included window
and sash making to industrial casework for schools and park districts
and historical restoration. I was involved in designed and building
furniture for the broadcast industry that covered radio stations and
recording studios halls and churches, consoles for the video/edit
businesses. I have also worked on bars and restaurant props, store
fixtures and display cabinetry, kiosks and mall store fronts.
Having covered all aspects of the woodworking field, I feel very lucky
to have become so versatile. It has strengthened my ability and build
furniture. My passion through it all has always been to design and build
furniture for the home.
I have recently relocated my shop from the suburbs of Chicago to
northern Wisconsin. It is here were I want to concentrate and build the
furniture I have designed over the years and create beautifully crafted
fine furniture.
